Florida State Grant Program

Get Up to $10,000 for Wind Mitigation

The My Safe Florida Home program provides grants to eligible homeowners for hurricane-hardening improvements. This money does NOT have to be paid back and can be applied toward your roofing project.

Important: Do Not Start Work Before Approval

You must wait for official approval from My Safe Florida Home before hiring a contractor or beginning any work. The inspection alone does not mean you're approved – you need a specific approval message.

What is the My Safe Florida Home Program?

My Safe Florida Home is a state-funded grant program designed to help Florida homeowners protect their homes against hurricane damage. The program provides up to $10,000 in grant money for wind mitigation improvements – and this money never has to be paid back.

Eligible improvements include roof replacements, upgrades to metal roofing, secondary water barriers, roof-to-wall connection retrofits, and other hurricane-hardening measures. Whether you're filing an insurance claim, paying cash for a replacement, or upgrading your existing roof, these all qualify as approved wind mitigation work.
